The 3 layers of every hook in this course

Each of the 165 hooks in this course is built in 3 layers that play at the same time in the first few seconds. Understanding the layers lets you build new hooks from scratch.

the viewer’s phone 💬 Spoken line what you HEAR 🎬 Visual Hook what you SEE 🔤 Text Hook what you READ on screen

🧠 The 3 layers

They work through different sensory channels — hearing, sight, and reading — so they reinforce one another.

  • •💬 Spoken line (spoken line): what you narrate or say at the start. It's the verbal tension.
  • •🎬 Visual Hook: the scene/image that appears — what stops the scroll before the audio.
  • •🔤 Text Hook: the short text (2–3 words) overlaid on screen for people watching without sound.

💡 Why 3 instead of 1

85% of people start videos on mute. Without a Text Hook and Visual, they never hear your best line. The 3 layers ensure the hook works with or without sound.

2

Layer 1 — the spoken line (spoken line)

A spoken line it's the line you narrate in the first few seconds. This is where verbal tension lives — the gap that demands an answer.

🆕 New here? Spoken line ≠ caption

The spoken line is the script for what you SAY. The auto-caption transcribes it, but the Text Hook (layer 3) is different: it's a very short, carefully chosen summary displayed prominently.

📊 What makes a good spoken line

  • •Fits in ~2 seconds of speech (short).
  • •Opens a gap ("…but that’s not what’s shocking").
  • •Use something specific (number, name, value) instead of a vague adjective.
  • •End by leaving the question hanging, not the answer.

✓ Strong spoken line

  • ✓"I asked AI for the impossible… it did it in 4 seconds."
  • ✓"I lost $50,000 in a week… and I’d do it again."

✗ Weak spoken line

  • ✗"Today I’m going to show you some cool AI stuff."
  • ✗"Investing is important; today we’re going to talk about money."
▸ Going deeper: 4 openings that always create a curiosity gap
  • • "Most people think X…" → challenges a belief.
  • • "I [absurd result]…" → personal proof + curiosity.
  • • "This [thing] can [impossible feat]…" → demonstration.
  • • "The [superlative] … isn’t where you’d expect." → breaks expectations.
3

Layer 2 — the Visual Hook

O Visual Hook it's the scene that appears on screen at second zero. Often, it's what REALLY stops the scroll — before the brain processes a single word.

🆕 New here? Visual Hook in one sentence

It's the image or micro-scene that illustrates (or contrasts with) the spoken line: an empty office chair, a graph plunging in red, a piggy bank breaking. Concrete, tense, and easy to read on a phone screen.

🧠 3 types of Visual Hooks that work

null

  • •Show the consequence: "Position Closed" on screen, bank account plummeting.
  • •Creates contrast: ChatGPT × ultra-futuristic UI side by side.
  • •Quick transformation: US$100 turning into gold bars, a dumbbell turning into a frying pan.
🔬 Visual carrying the hook on its own

💬 Spoken: "This trick clones your voice in 3 seconds."

🎬 Visual: audio waveform transforming from one voice into another

🔤 Text: Voice Cloning

Even without sound, the changing wave “tells” the story — the visual itself is the hook.

💡 In the course, each hook has a reference image

In Track 2, you’ll see an AI-generated image for each of the 165 Visual Hooks—so you can visualize the scene before you record.

4

Layer 3 — the Text Hook (overlay)

O Text Hook it's the short text overlaid on the screen — usually 2 to 3 large words. It's the hook for people watching on mute.

85% watch on MUTE 🔇 💬 spoken line (they don't hear) 🎬 Visual Hook (they see) 🔤 AI Took the Job the hook still works visuals + text hold attention without sound

🆕 New here? Text Hook in one sentence

It's the brutally short summary of the promise, highlighted visually: "AI Took the Job", "Lost 50K", "Passive Income Trap". It's not the full caption — it's the headline.

📊 Text Hook Rules

  • •Short: 2-3 words. If it doesn’t fit at a glance, it’s too long.
  • •High contrast, large font, in the upper or center third.
  • •Reinforces the tension in the spoken line; it doesn't repeat the whole thing.
  • •Appears right in frame 0, alongside the visual.

💡 English vs Português

The Text Hooks in the material are in English (global market). You can use them as is or adapt them: "Lost 50K" → "I lost 50 thousand." In Track 2, each card shows the original + the PT-BR version.

Quick check (optional, doesn't block progress)

85% of people start videos on mute. Which layer DOESN'T reach them?

5

How the 3 layers reinforce each other (and common mistakes)

The magic isn’t in each layer on its own, but in the overlay. When all three point to the same tension, the hook becomes hard to ignore.

🧠 Correct stacking — example

Hook “AI Took the Job”:

  • •💬 Spoken: "AI replaced a $200,000 job… but that's not the shocking part."
  • •🎬 Visual: empty office chair, screen with the warning "Position Closed".
  • •🔤 Text: AI Took the Job.

✓ Layers aligned

  • ✓All 3 point to the same idea (job threat).
  • ✓A concrete visual you can "read" in 1 second.
  • ✓Short text that reinforces without repeating the spoken words.

✗ Layers clash

  • ✗The voiceover talks about AI, while the visuals show generic scenery.
  • ✗Text that’s too long (a full sentence on screen).
  • ✗Beautiful visual, but no tension at all.
▸ Going deeper: the 3-cut test

Take your finished hook and run 3 isolated tests: (1) read only the Text Hook — does it spark curiosity on its own? (2) watch only the visuals on mute — can you understand the tension? (3) listen to just the speech with your eyes closed — does it leave a gap? If it passes all three, your layers are aligned and the hook works in any viewing situation.

6

Exercise: build your 3 layers

Time to practice. Take one of your ideas and fill in the 3 layers — this is exactly the format you’ll reuse for the rest of your life.

🧠 Three-layer template

null

  • •💬 Spoken line: _________ (short, with a gap + specific detail)
  • •🎬 Visual Hook: _________ (concrete scene with tension)
  • •🔤 Text Hook: _________ (2-3 words)

Completed example (fitness niche)

💬 "The best workout isn't at the gym… it's in your kitchen."

🎬 dumbbell turning into a frying pan

🔤 Kitchen Gains

🔬 Same exercise, finance niche

💬 Spoken: "Your savings account is costing you money."

🎬 Visual: bank vault leaking bills onto the floor

🔤 Text: Losing Money

Spoken line with a paradox (savings that cost you), visuals of a concrete loss, 2-word headline text.

💡 Quick check

Read only the Text Hook: does it spark curiosity on its own? Look only at the Visual: can you understand the tension with no sound? If the answer to both is yes, your layers are strong.

🎓 Module summary
