Activation

This skill is activated when the user runs:

Input Collection

Step 1: Gather Positions

Ask the user to provide their positions in one of the following formats:

Format A — Stocks:

AAPL 100
MSFT 50
GOOGL 25
VTI 200
BND 150

Format B — Dollar Amounts:

AAPL $15,000
MSFT $20,000
GOOGL $8,000
VTI $30,000
BND $12,000

Format C — Natural Language: "I have 100 shares of Apple, $20K in Microsoft, 50 shares of Google, and about $30K in VTI"

If the user provides a mixed format, normalize everything to shares + current market value using WebSearch to get current prices.

Stage 2: Collect Optional Context

Ask (but don’t require):

Analysis Process

Phase 1: Position Mapping

For each position, use WebSearch to collect:

Calculate:

Phase 2: Sector Allocation Analysis

Map all positions to their GICS sectors:

  1. Technology
  2. Health
  3. Financial
  4. Consumer Discretionary
  5. Consumer Staples
  6. Industrials
  7. Energy
  8. Utilities
  9. Real estate
  10. Materials
  11. Communication Services

Compare with the benchmark's sector weights (SPY). Flag:

Phase 3: Geographic Exposure

Classify each position by revenue source:

Calculate the total geographic breakdown and compare it with global market capitalization weights.

Phase 4: Correlation Analysis

Use WebSearch to find correlation data for the main positions. Build a simplified correlation matrix:

         AAPL MSFT GOOGL VTI BND
AAPL 1.00 0.85 0.78 0.82 -0.15
MSFT 0.85 1.00 0.80 0.80 -0.12
GOOGL 0.78 0.80 1.00 0.79 -0.18
VTI 0.82 0.80 0.79 1.00 -0.20
BND -0.15 -0.12 -0.18 -0.20 1.00

Flag:

Phase 5: Concentration Risk

Evaluate concentration across multiple dimensions:

Position Concentration:

Concentration Risk Levels:

MetricLow RiskMedium RiskHigh Risk
Largest position<10%10-20%>20%
Top 3 positions<30%30-50%>50%
Top 5 positions<50%50-70%>70%
HHI<10001000-2500>2500

Single-action risk alert: Any position >15% of the portfolio receives a prominent warning.

Phase 6: Beta-Weighted Portfolio Delta

Calculate the portfolio beta relative to the benchmark:

  1. Look up each position’s beta via WebSearch
  2. Calculate the portfolio's weighted beta: Sum(position_weight * position_beta)
  3. Calculate the portfolio's beta-weighted delta:

Beta Rating:

Portfolio BetaInterpretation
<0.5Very defensive — underperforms in bull markets
0.5-0.8Defensive — less volatile than the market
0.8-1.2Neutral relative to the market — moves roughly with the market
1.2-1.5Aggressive — amplifies market movements
>1.5Very aggressive — high exposure to volatility

Phase 7: Dividend Analysis

For each dividend-paying position:

Portfolio Income Summary:

Dividend Safety Rating:

Payment RateSafety Rating
<40%Very Safe
40-60%Insurance
60-80%Moderate Risk
>80%High Risk
>100%Unsustainable

Phase 8: Benchmark Comparison

Compare the portfolio with the benchmark (SPY by default) in terms of:

MetricPortfolioBenchmarkDelta
YTD ReturnX%Y%+/-Z%
1-Year ReturnX%Y%+/-Z%
BetaX1.00+/-Z
Dividend YieldX%Y%+/-Z%
P/E Ratio (weighted)XY+/-Z
Number of PositionsX~500—

Calculate the tracking error and information ratio if there is sufficient data.

Phase 9: Rebalancing Recommendations

Based on all the analysis, provide specific recommendations:

Priority 1 — Risk Reduction (if needed):

Priority 2 — Sector Gaps:

Priority 3 — Income Optimization (if the goal is income):

Priority 4 — Tax Efficiency:

For each recommendation:

Rules

  1. Always use WebSearch for current market data — never make up prices or returns
  2. Always show the current state AND what an optimized portfolio would look like
  3. Always include the disclaimer at the top and bottom of the report
  4. Never recommend specific buy/sell actions without clarifying that they are suggestions, not advice
  5. Always indicate the date and time when the data was obtained — market data is time-sensitive
  6. If a position isn’t found or the data is unavailable, note that and proceed with the available data
  7. Round dollar amounts to 2 decimal places and percentages to 1 decimal place
  8. For ETFs, analyze the underlying sector exposure instead of classifying the ETF itself
  9. Flag potentially duplicated positions (e.g., owning AAPL and a technology ETF heavily concentrated in AAPL)
  10. If the portfolio has fewer than 5 holdings, strongly recommend diversification
