🎬 Setting Up the Project in CapCut

Before you start assembling, set up the project properly to avoid problems later.

Initial setup

  1. Open CapCut Desktop and create a New Project
  2. Set the aspect ratio based on your primary platform:
    • 9:16 for TikTok / Instagram Reels
    • 16:9 for YouTube
    • 1:1 for Instagram Feed
  3. Resolution: 1080p (Full HD)
  4. Frame rate: 30 FPS
  5. Import all assets from the folder organized in the previous lesson

Tip: Start with the audio

The best practice is to build the video around the audio. Put the narration on the timeline first, then add visuals synced to the speech. This creates a natural rhythm and keeps the video in sync.

2

🔊 Audio Sync

Synchronization between audio and visuals is what distinguishes an amateur video from a professional one.

Assembling the audio layers

  1. Track 1 - Voiceover: Drag the narration file to the first audio track
  2. Track 2 - Music: Add the background music on the second track
  3. Narration volume: Keep it at 100%
  4. Music volume: Reduce to 15-25% (it should be subtle)
  5. Music fade in/out: Add a 1s fade-in at the beginning and a 2s fade-out at the end

Visual sync with narration

Narration excerpt Matching visual Technique
Hook (question/statement) Striking image or product close-up Quick cut or zoom in
Problem description Scenario that represents the problem Darker tones, smooth transition
Solution presentation Featured Product, Reveal Impactful transition, light tones
Each benefit mentioned Visual illustrating the benefit + text Cut to the beat of the music
Call to action Logo + CTA text + product Clean screen, focus on the text

Cut on the beat

Sync scene transitions with the beats of the background music. This creates a visual rhythm that keeps viewers engaged. In CapCut, use the beat detection feature: Audio > Detect Beats.

3

🔄 Transitions and Effects

Transitions connect scenes and maintain visual flow. For a professional video, less is more—avoid overly flashy transitions.

Recommended transitions

Transition When to use Duration
Hard cut Fast-paced scenes, high energy, TikTok 0s (instant)
Cross Dissolve Change of theme, passage of time 0.3-0.5s
Fade to Black Video ending, section breaks 0.5-1s
Zoom Transition Product reveal, highlight 0.3-0.5s
Slide/Wipe Show benefits in sequence 0.3s

Golden rule for transitions

Use no more than 2 types of transitions in a short video. Visual consistency conveys professionalism. A hard cut + cross dissolve is a safe combination for almost any type of video.

4

📝 Text and Captions

On-screen text reinforces the message and helps people watching without sound. Add strategic text for the video's most important points.

Types of text to include

Title/Hook (0-3s): Large, eye-catching text that reinforces the hook. Example: "This will change EVERYTHING"
Benefit highlights (15-25s): Keywords that appear alongside the narration. E.g.: "40h battery"
Final CTA (25-30s): Clear call to action. E.g.: "Link in bio" or "Learn more"
Automatic captions: Generate captions for the entire video with CapCut Auto-Captions

Styling text in CapCut

  • Source: Use sans-serif fonts (Montserrat, Inter, Poppins) for a modern look
  • Size: Large enough to read on mobile (minimum 48px at 1080p)
  • Color: White with a dark shadow for legibility on any background
  • Animation: Smooth entrance (fade or slide); avoid distracting animations
  • Duration: Each text should remain visible for at least 2 seconds

🎨 Color Consistency

Since the assets were generated with different AI tools, colors and styles may vary between scenes. Color grading unifies everything.

Steps for color consistency

  1. Choose a base LUT: Apply the same color filter to all clips
  2. Adjust individually: Fix brightness and contrast in clips that look out of place
  3. Temperature match: All clips should have a similar color temperature (warm or cool)
  4. Copy settings: Use the "Copy/Paste Adjustments" feature between similar clips
  5. Test in preview: Watch the full video and check that the color transitions are smooth

AI Color Match in CapCut

CapCut has a feature for AI Color Match that analyzes a reference clip and applies the same color palette to the others. Choose your best-looking clip as the reference and apply it to all the others to automatically create a consistent look.

6

👁️ Preview and Feedback

Before finishing, review the video multiple times with a critical eye.

Pre-export Review Checklist

🔊
Audio: Is the narration clear? Is the music drowning out the voice? Are there clicks or noise?
⏰
Timing: Does each visual appear synchronized with the corresponding narration?
🎨
Colors: Are the colors consistent across scenes? Does any clip stand out?
📝
Text: Is all the text readable? Are there any spelling errors? Is it displayed long enough?
🔄
Transitions: Smooth and natural? No abrupt or awkward transitions?
📱
Mobile: Watch it on your phone—is everything readable and visible on the small screen?
⏱️
Duration: Is the video between 30-60 seconds? Is the pacing good?

Ask for external feedback

Send the preview to 2-3 people you trust and ask for honest feedback. Ask specifically: "Did you understand what the product was in the first 5 seconds?" e "Would you watch until the end if you saw this in your feed?"
