Monthly client report: one page, even at zero

The monthly report is what the client sees of your work. If they can't understand it in two minutes, it doesn't matter what you did. One page: the non-branded number, the indexing of the key URLs, the target queries, the question set across the AIs, and one decision you ask of them. And when the number is zero, you say it's zero.

Start the lesson
A bakery owner reads a one-page printed report at the counter, with loaves of bread blurred in the background.

In this lesson you will

  1. 1Where each number in the report comes from
  2. 2The 10 lines at the top and the decision you ask for
  3. 3How to report a zero without hiding it and without dramatizing it
  4. 4The weekly report as raw material for the monthly one

Goal: build the one-page monthly report with non-branded, indexing, target queries, AI citations and a decision asked of the client.

Click each block in the diagram to see what it does.

Four sources, one page and one decision request.

02How to build the month

Tap each step.

1. Weekly first

Every week the script (or the spreadsheet, by hand) gathers the non-branded export, the key URL inspection and the target queries into one file.

The monthly report only reads those files; it doesn't run anything new the day before.

03The weekly report and the monthly template

The script comes from INEMA's working repository (not public); the format works as a template. Without credentials, the same table can be made by hand from the dashboard.

Terminal · this week's report using what's already in data/gsc
# inputs: data/urls-chave.txt and data/consultas-alvo.txt (one per line)
python3 scripts/gsc_relatorio_semanal.py --sem-api
# outputs: data/gsc/indexacao.csv (append only) and reports/semana-<fim>.md

04Practice: the first report

Use your own site as client zero.

E1 · One month's report

45 min

After 4 weeks of exports (course 3, or by hand), fill in the one-page template with the month's numbers and the question set.

Done when: the report fits on one page, all 10 lines have a number and a comparison, and one decision is requested with a date.

E2 · The sentence for zero

15 min

Pick the worst number of the month and write how you'd tell it to the client: the number, what it means and the next step.

Done when: the sentence has the exact number (even if it's 0), an explanation with no adjectives and an action with a deadline.

05Test what you learned

The explanation appears after your answer.

Question 1 of 4

The client's site got 0 non-branded clicks this month, but non-branded impressions went up. How do you tell them?skill
