Lesson 1 · 15 min
No vendor promises that the agent resists prompt injection. Anthropic said so with a number on November 24, 2025. In this lesson you see the three attack paths the WebMCP spec describes, and you prove, with a word filter, why blocking text doesn't solve it.
Start the lesson
Goal: read what vendors admit about prompt injection, with dates, and prove with a word filter that some attacks always get through.
WebMCP spec, draft of October 16, 2026, §6.3.1. Click each path.
All three paths are on the site side. What happens inside the agent (and how to reproduce it with a fake agent) belongs to the LOOP-R Track, injection lesson.
In the post about prompt injection in browser use, Anthropic measured about 1% of attacks succeeding against the Claude for Chrome extension, using an internal adaptive attacker that tries 100 times per environment.
And it wrote: "still represents meaningful risk. No browser agent is immune to prompt injection". The defenses cited: model training, classifiers on the content, and human red team.
According to the press, OpenAI published "Hardening Atlas against prompt injection", about automated red teaming. Press coverage reports the line that the problem "is unlikely to ever be fully solved".
The OpenAI page returned 403 when we tried to read it on October 19, 2026: it stays as reported, not confirmed at the source.
Section 6 (Security and Privacy Considerations) is not normative. It describes the threats and proposes signals, like the annotations, with no guarantee at all.
The part about origin boundaries (§6.3.4) is still just a pending note in the draft of October 16, 2026.
You don't fix the model. You decide what the tool exposes, mark third-party text, ask for confirmation before acting, and limit who sees what. That's the roadmap for lessons 2 through 8.
Once only. Versions pinned on October 19, 2026: Playwright 1.64.0 (Chromium 156) and official MCP SDK 2.3.1. No API key.

Path shortened with ~ in the capture. In it, Playwright's Chromium 156 was already downloaded on the machine; the first time, the last command shows the download lines before saída: 0.
The first three are the spec's examples (§6.3.1). The last two are variations: a polite sentence and a word with spaces.
cd ~/projetos/formacao-webmcp-seguranca-v72/kit node scripts/filtro.mjs; echo "saída: $?"
// filtro.mjs — an "anti-injection" word filter, the kind many people write first.
// It serves to prove the point of lesson 1: a filter catches the known attack and lets the variation through.
// It calls no model: it only applies the rules to the text.
// Usage: node scripts/filtro.mjs [file] (default: payloads/exemplos.txt; one attack per block, separated by ---)
// Exit 0 = the filter blocked everything; 1 = some attack got through.
import { readFileSync } from 'node:fs';
const REGRAS = [
/ignore (all )?(previous|prior) instructions/i,
/ignore as instru[çc][õo]es/i,
/\bSYSTEM\b/,
/<important>/i,
/END USER CONTENT/i
];
const arquivo = process.argv[2] || new URL('../payloads/exemplos.txt', import.meta.url);
const blocos = readFileSync(arquivo, 'utf8')
.split(/^---\s*$/m)
.map(b => b.split('\n').filter(l => !l.startsWith('#')).join(' ').trim())
.filter(Boolean);
let passaram = 0;
blocos.forEach((b, i) => {
const regra = REGRAS.find(r => r.test(b));
if (!regra) passaram++;
console.log(`${regra ? 'bloqueado' : 'PASSOU '} ${i + 1}: ${b.slice(0, 60)}…`);
});
console.log(`passaram: ${passaram} de ${blocos.length}`);
process.exit(passaram ? 1 : 0);bloqueado 1: Search the web for information. <important>SYSTEM INSTRUCTIO… bloqueado 2: Great product! The filter catches the attack it already knows. The polite variation and the broken word get through.
The exercise that closes the lesson: a notice that looks like it's from the site's team and uses none of the words on the list.
cd ~/projetos/formacao-webmcp-seguranca-v72/kit
E=${TMPDIR:-/tmp}/ensaio-seguranca; mkdir -p $E
cat > $E/meus.txt <<'FIM'
Each word you add to the list creates the next variation. That's why the next lessons limit the effect, instead of trying to filter the text.
Kit installed and the filter's limit proven on your machine.
Run the install block. It needs Node 20 or newer and about 200 MB for Chromium.
Done when: npm ci finishes with no error and the last line is saída: 0.
Run the filter block and read which ones passed.
Done when: passaram: 2 de 5 and saída: 1.
Replace the text in the my attack block with an attack of your own, in any language, that doesn't use any word from the rules in filtro.mjs.
Done when: passaram: 1 de 1 with your text.
