Selling with AI 5 · Masterclass: the calm sale|INEMA.CLUB-PRO

Lesson 6 · 16 min

Three biases that drive a purchase

Nobody decides with a spreadsheet alone. Three mental shortcuts show up in almost every purchase: losing hurts more than gaining, nobody wants to be the first, and what has already been invested weighs heavily. You will recognize them, use them only with true facts, and know exactly where the line is. This is where trust lives.

Start the lesson
Two adults in a bright meeting room comparing two sheets of paper side by side, looking thoughtful.

In this lesson you will

  1. 1What a decision bias is, and what a reframe is
  2. 2Loss aversion, social proof and sunk effort
  3. 3Honest social proof when you still have few clients
  4. 4The test that separates influence from manipulation

Goal: use loss aversion, social proof and sunk effort only with true facts, and apply the test that separates influence from manipulation.

01Three shortcuts, one decision

The decision is felt first and rationalized later. Click each shortcut.

Working with biases is not deceiving: it's presenting the true information in a way the person can process.

To reframe is to state the same fact from another angle. "Saves ten hours a week" and "loses ten hours a week" describe the same reality.

02All three, with honesty

How to use each one, and how each one backfires.

1. Loss framing

Gain: "your proposal goes out in three hours instead of three days," true and easy to postpone. Loss: "every week your proposal takes three days is one more client who closes with whoever replied first."

Never invent a false deadline or artificial scarcity.

03The line between influence and manipulation

The test: if the client knew exactly what you are doing, would they still be comfortable?

1. Influence

Use the numbers they gave you themselves. Cite a real case, anonymized.

Say what the solution does not do. This is what Professional 2030 calls trust: saying what you know and what you don't know how to do.

Reframing is writing work, not improvisation.

Prompt · reframe bank
You are my editor of sales arguments. I will give you FACTS. You may only use those facts.
WHAT I SELL: <one sentence: AI diagnostic, audit, mentorship or training>
TYPICAL CLIENT: <sector and size>
FACTS I HAVE (do not invent any others):
- <e.g.: in 3 projects, the quote response time dropped from 2 days to 2 hours>
- <e.g.: I have never served this specific sector>
- <e.g.: my pilot takes 3 weeks>
Write, in US English and in a conversational tone:
1. THREE "cost of staying as is" sentences, using the client's own numbers
as variables marked like this: <number they said>.
2. THREE HONEST social proof sentences based on the facts above, anonymized
(sector and size, never a name). If a fact cannot support social proof, say so.
3. TWO sentences that acknowledge the effort the company has already made, without sounding condescending.
4. A list of what I CANNOT claim with the facts I have.
Hard rule: no made-up urgency, no number that I did not give you.

05Practice

Your bank of sentences, built only from your own facts.

1 · Reframe bank

25 min

List the facts you really have (projects, results, what you have never done) and run the prompt. Save the result in a file of your own.

Done when: the file has sentences for all three biases and item 4 (what you cannot claim) is filled in; if it came back empty, you redid it.

2 · The line test

10 min

Reread the sentences you usually use in a sales conversation. Apply the test to each one: would the client be comfortable knowing what you are doing?

Done when: you marked each sentence as influence or manipulation and rewrote or cut the ones that did not pass.

06Quick quiz

4 questions. The explanation appears after your attempt.
